What is a Family Columbarium?

A columbarium is an above ground, outdoor structure with small niches that hold cremated remains.
A family columbarium is a columbarium that’s created for a family (or families) so their cremated remains are kept all together in one structure.

The Heritage Model

Our most popular design is the Heritage model. This model is based on an iconic, traditional monument design, which we’ve made into a modern, smaller version of a family columbarium.
Our Heritage models can be customized and they fit well along cemetery pathways, in cemetery nature gardens, or on family plots.

These family columbarium units come with a grey granite exterior. You can choose another colour of granite for the doors and back wall or you can choose to have the whole unit in grey granite.
Standard features for all of Sunset’s family columbaria include a:
- 100% granite exterior
- lifetime warranty on the granite
- key-locked interior aluminum door, which is secure and easy for cemetery staff to use
Our designs are very flexible and can be made to suit whatever a family needs. Our family columbaria can be for single-family use or we can add internal divider walls so the unit can be used as a small community columbarium for more than 1 family.

What if I Want Other Features Added to My Family Columbarium?

Custom features can be added to suit your family’s tastes, customs, and spiritual practices and beliefs.
We can also add artistic detail by doing personalized engraving and inscriptions to the roof pediment, sidewalls, and doors.
